We selected the best Shepherd’s Hut builder in the country we could find. They have built a hut custom designed for us, to be spacious, very dog friendly and provide easy access.
The hut is much bigger than standard ones, and is designed for maximum comfort, use and flexibility; with ensuite facilities. It is fully insulated with double glazing, cavity wall insulation abdsealed doors and windows to be very cosy.

Eating and drinking
There are three local pubs within 3 miles, one of which is about a half hour walk along country lanes. All three pubs serve excellent food; as we can testify. Two of them (The Polgooth Inn and The Hewas Inn) are dog friendly.
Take away food services are also available, and some will deliver to our doorstep (details in your guest guide provided in the hut).
Shopping
The main shopping centre of St Austell is just a couple of miles away and has a wide range of shops; both well known chains and local stores. There are two large supermarkets (Tesco and Asda) within easy reach and a local late night convenience store in a village about 1.5 miles away. Asda, Tesco, Sainsburys, Iceland and Waitrose will all deliver to us.
Dog walks
There are a number of local walks within easy reach including:
Clay Hills Trails – nearby walks on local hills with spectacular views
Blackpool Trail – nearby walk up onto the local hills
To Sticker (nearby village) – Walk along relatively quiet country lane
Luxulyan Valley – Extensive walks through woods and historic mining area
Old Baal Clay Pit Carclaze – fantastic views across the countryside
Kingswood near Mevagissey – one of our favourite walks through woods
A30 at Roche – Scenic walk along a disused part of an old road
Cardinham near Bodmin – Woods with extensive walks
Plus many dog-friendly beaches including Par, Polstreath, Portmellon, Duporth, Vault, Perranporth, Penhale Sands, Holywell bay, Crantock, Fistral, Watergate bay and Mawgan Porth.
